They are multipotent progenitor cells with the ability to self-renew and differentiate. They possess regenerative, immunomodulatory, and anti-inflammatory properties.
They are excellent as advanced biological therapy due to their properties:
- Multipotency: They have the ability to differentiate (transform) into various cell types: osteoblasts (bone cells), chondrocytes (cartilage cells), and adipocytes (fat cells).
- Paracrine and Immunomodulatory: They secrete a wide variety of soluble factors (cytokines, chemokines, growth factors) that modulate the immune response and promote tissue regeneration (paracrine effect), even beyond their differentiation capacity.
