Umbilical Cord MSC Exosomes and Hair Regeneration
Jiao et al. (2024) showed that exosomes derived from human umbilical cord mesenchymal stem cells (hUCMSC-Exos) promote hair growth by modulating key processes in the hair follicle.

1. Cell proliferation
hUCMSC exosomes stimulate fibroblast proliferation, essential for hair follicle support.
2. Anagen phase activation
They promote hair follicles entering the anagen phase, the active stage of hair growth.
3. Regenerative signaling
They increase hair follicle stem and progenitor cell markers and activate the Wnt/β-catenin pathway, key in hair cycle regulation.
Umbilical cord MSC exosomes represent a promising strategy for hair regeneration.
